Question: I read an article from the National Post that states that the new border rules do not include the States, Caribbean and Mexico. Is that accurate? I know many people from Jamaica that work seasonally in Canada who are due to come in the next couple of weeks and are unsure if they will be able to. Thanks for any help!

A: As of March 17, flights from the Caribbean are being allowed. However, this is to get Canadians home and will likely change in the coming weeks. Jamaica has active COVID cases and is considering lockdown measures of its own.

At this point, any person of any nationality entering Canada is expected to self-isolate for two weeks.

The best source of information to send to foreign workers who are not yet in Canada is the federal government’s Coronavirus resource page.
